WHITNEY LAKE THA

Gutter Cleaning and Roof Debris Removal

Mon. – Thurs., Sept. 23-26

Dear Whitney Lake THA Owner or Tenant –

Annual gutter cleaning for all WLTHA units will take place this coming Monday-Thursday, Sept. 23-26, 2019, starting at 8:30am Monday morning.  Please leave your back gates unlocked so that the contractor completing the work can access your unit’s back gutter.  If the gate is not left unlocked, the crew will not be able to complete the cleaning of that part of your gutter system.

As the Sweetleaf Lane units have a tremendous amount of debris left on them by Hurricane Dorian, the contractor will also be cleaning off those roofs in addition to the gutters in that area.

All debris will be removed entirely and the contractor has been reminded to leave all areas clean.

Please contact me with any questions related to this project.

With kind regards,

Sally Wackym

Whitney Lake THA

Post-Dorian Update

Sept. 7th, 2019

Dear Whitney Lake THA Owners and Residents –

We hope everyone came through the hurricane with little or no damage.  Everyone is very happy not to have received a direct visit from Hurricane Dorian! There were some high winds however and we know that there are some damages in most of the coastal communites.

Inspections for damages were made this past Friday, however, we may not have noted all areas with damage.  Leaning and downed trees in common areas have been listed as have missing shingles and gutter damage around buildings.  Please contact me via email if you have some damages to your unit or the landscaping around your unit or building.

We had crews from Baker Roofing inspecting and repairing roofs today and will have other repair crews onsite tomorrow.  Yellowstone Landscaping will be onsite Tueday and Weds. to clear out debris and to reset leaning trees.

We’re prepared to complete repairs and clean-up as soon as possible to bring life back to normal in your community.

Thank you for your patience and assistance,

Sally Wackym

A notice from Sally regarding Hurricane Dorian in case you did not get your copy:
Sept. 2, 2019
Dear Residents,
Ravenel Associates is monitoring Hurricane Dorian. The Governor McMaster has issued a mandatory evacuation for all of the South Carolina coast line beginning at 12 noon, today. Lane reversals of I-26 will begin at noon.
It is recommended owners and residents take the time now to secure all outdoor furniture and decorations. We recommend you bring all items such as grills, chairs, tables, and decorations including items from the screened porch into your home.  If you use a rental company, you may want them to assist you with this.
Please continue to monitor the local news. We encourage you to be alert for any announcements you may receive from the local weather stations or from other agencies such as NOAA (National Hurricane Center) Weather Radio. In the Charleston area, the frequency for the NOAA is 162.550-162.450. While the television station is easier to see and listen to, if a storm approaches power usually goes out and radios are the way to go! Just make sure you have plenty of charged batteries. South Carolina Emergency Management Division (scemd.org), has an excellent 14 page guide with information as to the evacuation routes for your area, phone numbers for emergencies and what you need to prepare and/or purchase if you are staying in the area. Charleston County’s website is useful for determining road closures and openings.
The landscapers have been contacted to turn off the irrigation should the need arise. This ensures water does not pour out of the pipes if they are damaged. If you have a pool in your community, the pool contractor has been contacted and will be storing the pool furniture.
It is recommended owners and resident take the time now to secure all outdoor furniture and decorations now.  We recommend you bring all items such as grills, chairs, tables and decorations including items from the screened porch into your home.  If you use a rental company, you may want them to assist you with this.  Please be reminded to turn off your gas, electricity and water prior to leaving.
After the storm, your landscape company will begin clean-up as soon as it is safe to be on the roads.  Initial clean up begins with clearing parking lots, walkways, and roadways of any hazards and for access.  They will then consolidate piles and start removal of debris on the grounds.
Management will inspect the community once it is safe to do so.  Please have your rental company inspect the inside your home.  Notify your insurance agent of any damages.
Ravenel Associates offices, will be closed effective Tuesday, September 3 at 12pm. I will be monitoring and responding to e-mails (swackym@ravenelassociates.com) and voicemails. If there is an emergency, please call our emergency line at 843-768-9480.
Stay safe!

Whitney Lakes Townhome Association

March 14, 2019

Dear Whitney Lakes Townhome Owner:

As your Association manager, I want to remind you that power washing of the Whitney Lake townhomes will occur over the days of March 14-15, March 19 – 22 and possibly March 25-26, 2019.  A mild solution of bleach and water will be used to remove and retard mildew and dirt that have accumulated on the buildings, dock and sidewalks.  The common areas will be power washed starting Tuesday, March 12.

  • The project will begin at the Murraywood end of Sweetleaf Lane and move forward to Fetterbush and Brittlebush.  Sugarberry Lane units will NOT be power washed at this time as the Sugarberry Lane units are slated for painting in the next 2-3 months and will be power washed at that time.
  • Please remove pets and more delicate potted plants from your front porch and back yard (regular outdoor plants should not be affected) and open the gate to your back fence to allow the crews access to the back portion of your townhome when your cleaning date arrives.  If gates are left closed, full cleaning cannot be accomplished. Please also store inside any outdoor items you feel may be negatively affected by the cleaning solution. Screened-in porches will not be power-washed. The THA WILL NOT be responsible for items left out on porches or decks.
  • Individual unit owners should only be inconvenienced one or two days and the contractor, Big Guys Pressure Washing, will alert you with a flyer on your door when your unit is slated for power washing 48 hours in advance. Notice will be given Tuesday, March 12 that washing will be started Thursday, March 14 on Sweetleaf Lane and the surrounding streets. Flyers will be posted on unit doors 48 hours in advance of pressure washing on the other THA streets.
  • Big Guys has done a very nice job for the Association in the past. They will be completing cleaning on common area fencing that has mildew stains (not individual unit fencing) and will be cleaning the sidewalks and the dock area as part of this project.

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this matter; I’ll be glad to assist you.  My direct line and email are below and if you have a true emergency after hours, the operator will assist you.

I know all of you are looking forward to a shiny, new-looking Whitney Lakes.  Thank you for your patience while the work is completed.

With kindest regards,

Sally Wackym, Community Manager

The Gardens at Whitney Lake HOA/ The WLTHA

Parking in the Streets/ Misc. Updates

June 28th 2018

Dear Gardens HOA  and Whitney Lake THA Residents –

Parking in the Street:

A number of complaints have been received lately regarding residents parking in the streets behind other residents driveways.  The Gardens HOA  and Whitney Lake THA governing documents discourage parking in the streets, instead directing residents to park in their driveways.  If you do need to park on the street occasionally, please consider where you park and that the cars on the other side of the street must back out of their driveways.  This practice will make it much safer for those both backing out of their driveways and for those parking in the street.

Pond Algae:

The rain received over the past 2-3 weeks, the heat and turf fertilizer have contributed to an algae bloom in the community ponds.  Professional Lake Management has been out treating the ponds last week and this week.  Both community landscape supervisors have been directed to pick up trach that has drifted into the ponds. A new solar-powered aerator will be installed in the Sparkleberry pond in the next 7-10 days, which will improve the water quality in the pond.  Fish will also be installed in the Sparkleberry and Valley Oak ponds to improve water quality and reduce mosquito larvae.

Gutter Cleaning –

Gutter cleaning in the THA is scheduled for the middle of August.  You will be notified of the confirmed dates in the next 1-2 weeks.

Committees –

The members of the landscape committee and the traffic committee have been busy with projects.  If you wish to become a committee member in either community, please email management at swackym@ravenelassociates.com.

With kind regards,

Sally Wackym, Community Manager for The Gardens at Whitney Lake and Whitney Lake Townhomes Association
